May 20 rally makes clear elected officials & NYC residents want community composting!

Monday, May 20 was a powerful day as Big Reuse, Save our Compost Coalition, elected officials, avid composters, and community members gathered on the steps of City Hall ahead of the Sanitation and Finance hearing to demand the budget for community composting be restored and to show support for Big Reuse's Queensbridge composting site.

Speakers CM Abreu, CM Marte, CM Restler, CM Menin, CM Bottcher, and Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine highlighted the importance of community composting and food scrap drop off sites for their constituents, including the critical need for composting education and community engagement community composting provides, and the overwhelming environmental benefits. Borough President Levine emphasized that community composting is only .0006% of NYC's annual budget.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and continues to support these important programs!
