What are the store hours and location for Big Reuse Center?
Big Reuse Center is open from 10am - 6pm 7 days a week.
Donation drop-offs are accepted until 5pm each day.
We’re located at One 12th Street in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn, between Harbor Freight Tools and Lowe’s.
Do purchased items come with warranties?
All items except appliances are sold "as-is". Big Reuse and Big Initiatives make no warranties, express or implied, with respect to any item including without limitation, warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
APPLIANCE WARRANTY: Appliances over $200 have 90 day warranty. Big Reuse will pay for the repair up to the cost of the appliance priced over $200.00.
LEAD PAINT WARNING: Items painted with paint manufactured prior to 1978 may contain lead.
What types of payment do you accept for store and online purchases?
We accept all major credit cards and cash for store purchases.
For online purchases we only accept credit cards All orders must be paid in full before they will be pulled from the floor and processed for pick-up.
How long can I store items at Big Reuse Center after I purchase them?
Purchased items must be picked up within 5 days of their purchase date. After 5 days items left in the store will be considered abandoned and restocked for sale.
Do you offer shipping or delivery services for store and online purchases?
Big Reuse is currently unable to offer shipping or delivery for items purchased online or at Big Reuse Center. All online purchases must be picked up from Big Reuse Center at One 12th St, Brooklyn, NY 11215.
What’s your return policy?
Items purchased at Big Reuse Center are accompanied by a receipt. Any items for return must be in the same condition they were in when purchased and accompanied by the receipt. With these conditions met, we accept returned items up to 7 days after their purchase for store credit less a 20% restocking fee.
Donations
Why should I donate my used items?
Thanks to the support of generous donors, we work every day to reduce the environmental impact of waste sent to our landfills. When you donate materials to Big Reuse, you give them a second life. You are also supporting all of our programs, as well as our dedicated and passionate employees
Can I claim a deduction for my donation?
All donations are tax deductible and directly support the environmental mission of Big Reuse, a 501c3 charitable organization. You will receive your tax deductible receipt at the time of donation.
A receipt is needed if you plan to claim a deduction of more than $250. For total yearly deductions over $500, you must complete IRS Form 8283 Noncash Charitable Contributions for your tax return. To deduct a charitable contribution over $5,000 you must have a qualified appraisal that itemizes and values the donated property.
Note that by law, we do not assign a monetary value to your donation.
How do I donate my used items?
First, check the BIG Donations Guide. Big Reuse may refuse any donation that is not in good reusable condition.
Smaller items like books, clothing, electronics, home goods and hardware can be dropped off 7 days a week between 10am and 5pm.
For larger items fill out our online donation form. Be sure to include photos.
How soon will my inquiry be responded to?
Complete inquiries will be responded to within 2 business days. Due to the volume of inquiries we receive, we are sorry, we are unable to respond to non-compliant inquiries.
Do you pick up donations?
We are currently able to offer pick-up services for large volume donations only. Pickup request, indicated in the online donation inquiry form, are determined based on value, proximity and scheduling
Big Reuse is fully insured and can provide a Certificate of Insurance.
Why wasn’t my donation accepted?
If your item is one of the types of items we generally accept, it may be rejected because of its age, quality, condition, or because space is limited in our warehouse. Dirty or potentially hazardous items like bedding, lead-related items, chemicals, recalled items, and items that pose a safety risk to children, may also be regulated by law. Pickup requests are determined based on value, proximity and scheduling.
We recognize the time and effort it takes to donate, and we make every attempt to accommodate eligible donations.
