Big Reuse’s Bushwick Reuse Center (thrift store) is officially open at 378 Troutman Street, marking a new chapter in Big Reuse’s ongoing work in the neighborhood. Expanding on our years of composting, street tree care, and community-based programs in Bushwick, our new Reuse Center thrift store space will allow us to accept community donations of clothing, shoes, home goods, books, and accessories while offering a place to shop that centers around reuse and keeping items local.
Operating hours of the new Bushwick store will be 11AM-7PM daily for both shopping and donation. We're located at 378 Troutman Street, accessible by the Jefferson Avenue L train stop and the B38 bus stop at DeKalb Avenue/Irving Avenue.
Note the differing hours of operation from our Gowanus Reuse Center thrift store, located at 1 12th Street, which is open daily from 10AM-6PM and accepts donations daily from 10AM-5PM.

Take a look at our donation guidelines below before bringing your items to the Bushwick Reuse Center (note: unlike our Gowanus location, the Bushwick store cannot accept larger furniture or building materials).
At our Bushwick location, we accept the following donations:
-
Clothing, accessories, and shoes (No underclothing)
-
Home goods like vases, lamps, glasses, utensils, plates, and pans
-
Books, CDs, DVDs, and cassette tapes (No Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Periodicals or Textbooks)
- Toys and games
Please make sure all items are clean and in working condition!
Note the differences between what is accepted at our Bushwick thrift store and what is accepted at Gowanus. As Gowanus is a larger space, we will only be able to accept large items such as furniture, building materials, appliances, and paint at that location.

What stands out most about this space is how deeply reuse is woven into every part of it. Almost everything in the Bushwick Reuse Center was made using salvaged or secondhand materials, from the scaffolding lumber used for shelving to the bookcases that once lived in the NYC Bar Association’s library. The clothing racks and plywood walls also have their own stories, sourced from other places around the city. Every detail reflects what Big Reuse stands for: keeping materials in use and giving them another chance.
