Curbside Compost Collection returns to Queens! - Big Reuse

Curbside Compost Collection returns to Queens!

Curbside Composting returns to Queens on March 27 and Big Reuse will be there to provide outreach!  Curbside Composting is the Department of Sanitation’s free weekly collection service for food scraps, food-soiled paper products, and yard waste. ALL residential buildings in Queens are eligible to participate. Set your bin(s) out after 6 PM the night before your collection day, which is the same day as your recycling. You can use a brown bin or your own bin less than 55 gallons with a secure lid; order a free decal to place on your own bin at nyc.gov/CompostingBinDecal.

Queens residents: Do you want to help promote composting and belong to a Queens-based organization with regular meetings and upcoming Queens events?  Email compostoutreach@bigreuse.org to request an Curbside Composting outreach associate to attend with giveaways and information about the program, and/or present to your group.

Buildings with 10+ units: Interested in more education or free countertop scrap bins for residents? Email compostoutreach@bigreuse.org to request an educational outreach event at your building, and we can work with you and/or your building management to set up.

All buildings: Find more information at nyc.gov/curbsidecomposting and request printed or downloadable materials here.
