This week, we’re joining the celebration by reflecting on composting initiatives we’ve spotted in our travels around the world and our work in Queens since borough-wide curbside composting service began there in October 2022 and resumed in March 2023 after the winter pause! Over the last six months we’ve spent in Queens, we’ve canvassed over 32,500 addresses, attended over 300 events, and talked to over 36,000 people. We’ve loved connecting with Queens residents and community groups, and getting them set up to put out their food scraps and yard waste each week on their recycling day.
If you need compost for your houseplants or a new scrap bin for your kitchen, come find us at one of our upcoming Queens events this weekend!*
(*Weather permitting; some events will only have scrap bins available)
