Ask Your Council Member to Continue Funding Community Composting!

Thanks to NYC City Council's community composting funding for fiscal year 2025, Big Reuse's team restarted 22 food scrap drop-offs, helped restart the Master Composter Program, hosted workshops and tabling events with Brooklyn and Queens Public Libraries, hosts weekly volunteer work days, installs new compost systems at partner gardens and urban farms, and is educating NYC residents on the city's mandatory curbside composting program.

Ask City Council to keep funding community composting efforts across the city, including Big Reuse's compost programs—write your Council Member letter and help us get to 700 signatures! Call your council member using our phone banking script or call them directly!

The 2025 fiscal budget ends June 30, 2025. We hope to ensure community composting continues to be a priority, so we'd love your help asking Council Members to keep the funding in their 2026 fiscal budget (FY26), which begins July 2025.

We're incredibly grateful that City Council saw how important community composting is for our city's environmental resilience and prioritized it in their 2025 fiscal budget (FY25) to fund all of the organizations that are part of the NYC Community Compost Network. Thank council members for funding community composting through June 2025 here - help us reach 1,100 signatures!
