Ever thought of converting an old toilet into something useful? Having them act as holders of flora for your outdoor garden is a great DIY project that’ll not only ignite your creativity but spawn greater aesthetics to your home. This is a strange yet unique way to repurpose large amenities that’ll offer your green space some spunk.
Tools:
- An old toilet [from Big Reuse]
- Wrench or a screwdriver
- Bags of potting soil
- Plants or seeds for your garden... depending on how long you're willing to wait.
- A drill or something to make drainage hole
Steps for execution
1. Firstly, clean your toilet and let it dry. Remove parts that you do not need anymore. For instance, the tank or the seat
2. Since toilets do not usually have drainage holes, it is a very critical factor for avoiding waterlogged plants. So you want to create a few drainage holes through the bottom of the toilet bowl
3. Fill your toilet bowl with potting soil. You can purchase this from any store or maybe a Lowes next door.. The same as with any normal pot, you will want to add enough to give your plants room to grow.
4. Take a few plants or seeds of your choice— this could be floral or foods, either will do. Place them in the soil and water them well.
5. Place them in an appropriate setting and check on your plants regularly to make sure they have adequate amounts of water and sun.
The next time you come across that old toilet that is no longer in use, think of turning it into one of many quirky garden pots, ponds, or gardens. It's easy, eco-friendly, and will account for so many compliments!!
