City Council restored funding for NYC community composting programs! - Big Reuse

City Council restored funding for NYC community composting programs!

NYC community composting programs have been restored - and expanded to support more organizations - by City Council! Big Reuse will be able to continue our work as part of the city's community-scaled composting network that collaborates with botanical gardens and composting nonprofits to provide New Yorkers with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to produce and use compost.

Thank you to all the Councilmembers who fought to restore funding - particularly Sanitation Chair Shaun Abreu and Speaker Adrienne Adams! Don't forget to thank your councilmember for supporting these programs.

Thank YOU all for your commitment to keeping food scraps and yard waste out of landfills, and for being a part of this pivotal moment for community composting in NYC! It’s incredible to see just how impactful our collective voices can be.

Ongoing media coverage includes wastediveamnyepicenter, and New York Times. We will continue to share more detailed updates as they become available.
